In this information packed tutorial, learn with me (Nic Stover) a San Luis Obispo, CA based professional landscape and nature photographer and learn explore the deserts of the Southwest of the US. In this tutorial we will review will help you to discover how you could be looking at these distinct areas differently, see some simple ways to discover new places, and have greater confidence to express yourself in new ways.

Discover in this tutorial the following things!

1. Understand some of my best practices of in field capture

2. Learn about my processing methods specific to desert landscapes.

3. Learn to understand and overcome some of the challenges specific to the harsher scenes.

4. Receive information on the special considerations for scene specific captures,

5. Review the challenges in fainter light and higher detail scenes.

6. Expand your photographic geography as we visit iconic and lesser-known places. Places like Zion and Bryce but also venture off the beaten path and into lesser known and seldom seen places like White Pocket, The Wave, and the farther reaches of Grand Escalante.

The last portion will be a demonstration of the power of the local adjustments’ vs the global adjustments as part of working on participant submitted images and discover how can you align depth, texture, luminosity, sharpness, and focus on your processing and by using the tools in Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw.
