Join San Luis Obispo, CA based professional landscape and nature photographer Nic Stover for a two-day ZOOM session on “Capturing the Majestic & Magical” a deeper exploration of the fascinating opportunities in seascape photography.

This 2-day workshop will increase your understanding of how to prepare for and execute more impactful seascape images

Session I

Some of the topics covered in this class include but are not limited to.

1. Discuss and learn what draws you to seascapes photography and how do you want that to translate in our images?

2. Overcome the biggest challenges to seascape photography.

3. Learn the principles of Seascapes safety. How can we read what is underfoot and in front of us to keep ourselves and the environment safer?

4. Discover how to most effectively plan our images using tools like Webcams, PhotoPills, Magic Seaweed and Tides Near Me along with understanding the weather and dealing with the marine layer.

5. Explore the most typical composition rules to be aware of and follow in your image captures.

6. Further your use of inherent and subtle mood lines in your images to bring forth emotion and increase the impact of your images.

7. Develop the skills to find new and interesting places along the Coast that are not typically visited.

8. Understand what should go into gear evaluating and selection. What things do you really need to improve your chances of capturing the images the way you want?

The first workshop will also review some best practices for coastal landscapes, and a review of some of my most popular images where I will talk about the Technique and Vision that went into my images. This includes the technical capture details, histogram, and thoughts on why I chose the composition or what I was seeing the light.

The second workshop on will be all about processing.

Covering topics such as;

1. Discover what is your philosophy for image processing.

2. Learn the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Processing.

3. Review the best practices in the field to give you the best chance when you get back to your PC.

4. Explore the value of the local adjustments’ vs the global adjustments and how can you align depth, texture, luminosity, sharpness, and focus in your processing and by using the tools in Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw.

5. Deepen your understanding through an overview of how I go through my images as part of my workflow process where you will have me talk you through a step by step evaluation and processing.

The second section is all about processing your images as a CONSTRUCTIVE and positive image critique / image review with feedback from me and hands-on demonstrations on how to make changes to your images for greater impact.
